Content
Freshness - Obtaining an RSS Feed the Easy WAy
By John Alexander
Before we
talk about obtaining an RSS feed, let's talk about what it is
and how it can impact your "content freshness."
First let's talk about the term "content freshness?"
Content
freshness refers to how often your Web content gets updated.
To put it simply, the more often you add new content to your
Web site, you are feeding your visitors new information. But
you are also feeding the search engines new information. The
effect of updating your content will have an impact on things
like:
- having more visits from
search engine spiders on a regular basis.
- having high quality fresh
new content also gets your web pages indexed faster if the
robots visit more regularly
- having a site that is
consistently updated on
a regular basis has benefits to both visitor behavior and
search engine relevancy.
For example if you are updating
your site once a month, you may find that satisfactory. But if
you were to update it once each week, you would find the
search engine robots coming round more often. If you were to
make an effort to update it daily the impact changes again.
This is one of the reasons that news related Web sites are
crawled so frequently, because you literally have news stories
updated around the clock.
Obtaining RSS Feeds: What is
RSS?
One acronym is Really Simple
Syndication. Working with news feeds and fresh articles that
are syndicated (or meant to be published across the Web in
multiple places) serve a special advantage. Search engines
understand the some content like news and well written
articles are meant to be syndicated across the Web. Why the
search engines love these types of pages is because they are
never stale. They are continually updated on a systematic
basis. An RSS Feed allows you to be able to automatically serve
fresh new content on a regular basis. And believe me,
search engines love that fresh new content.
But what about creating your
own original new content?
Remember the key note is doing
regular updates to your Web site on a consistent basis. Adding
new articles or updating your pages on a weekly basis will
have a bigger impact than just updating on a monthly basis.
But what if your Web pages were being updated on a steady,
consistent daily basis or even an hourly basis. The impact of
regular consistent updates has more benefit than some people
realize.
I agree that creating your own original content is
important and because it is original and fresh there are some
great benefits to doing that. But RSS Equalizer is a
product that gives anyone with ANY type of website the ability
to easily add fresh content to their web pages the easy way.
It's about satisfying your viewers AND the search engines...

keeps the search engines coming back too.
